Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Batteries are sensitive to temperature changes. High heat and extreme cold can cause permanent damage and degrade battery performance faster.

  • Keep your device between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) whenever possible.
  • Avoid leaving your phone in direct sunlight or in a hot car.
  • Cold temperatures can temporarily reduce battery capacity, so keep your device warm in winter.

Don’t Let Your Battery Drain Completely

One of the biggest battery killers is frequent deep discharges. Lithium-ion batteries last longer when kept between 20% and 80% charge.

  • Avoid draining the battery to 0% regularly.
  • Try to charge your device before it drops below 20%.
  • If possible, unplug it before reaching 100% to reduce stress on the battery.

Avoid Overnight Charging (When Possible)

Leaving your device plugged in overnight can expose the battery to continuous trickle charging, which can degrade capacity over time.

  • Many modern devices have features to stop charging at 80% or slow it down overnight, so enable these options if available.
  • If you must charge overnight, use a smart plug or battery management app to reduce the time your device stays at 100%.
